Compare recent, relevant pay
Use the same profession, seniority, industry and part of Greater Cairo. Do not combine salaries reported years apart without adjustment, and keep unaccepted offers separate from compensation actually earned.
Break down the package
Record:
- Fixed monthly wage
- Variable or performance pay
- Profit share or annual bonus
- Transport or company bus
- Medical insurance and dependent coverage
- Meal, mobile and other allowances
- Social-insurance wage
- Review frequency
Ask whether an amount is gross or net and which deductions apply. Do not assume two employers use “total salary” the same way.
Price the commute and work pattern
Cairo geography can turn a nominally similar role into a very different daily commitment. Confirm office location, required attendance, transport and actual finishing time.
Check the legal floor separately from market fairness
Egypt's National Wages Council announced a private-sector minimum of EGP 7,000 effective 1 March 2025. A statutory minimum is a floor, not proof that an offer is competitive for a skilled or experienced role. Verify the current figure before publication or decision-making because wage decisions can change.
