Clarify gross, net and insured wage

Before comparing figures, ask:

  • Is the quoted amount gross or net?
  • What is fixed each month?
  • What is the social-insurance wage?
  • Which payments are variable?
  • How frequently is compensation reviewed?
  • Are transport, meals, medical insurance or profit sharing included?

A negotiation script

“Based on the responsibilities and current Cairo market for this level, I am targeting EGP X–Y in fixed monthly compensation. Could you confirm whether the approved range is gross or net and explain the benefits and review cycle?”

If inflation or currency conditions are central to the move, ask whether reviews occur on a fixed schedule. Treat a verbal promise of adjustment as uncertain until documented.

Negotiate the whole package

Where fixed pay cannot move, consider a signing payment, transport, medical coverage, flexible attendance, additional leave, a shorter documented review period or a clearly defined performance payment.

Never falsify a payslip, bank record or competing offer. Redirect the conversation toward the role's approved budget and your evidence of value.
